Bio

My name is Carley Rodriguez and I was born and raised in Huntsville, Alabama. I was born to the parents Charles and Penny Hill, along with a younger brother named William and an older brother named Thomas. My father is a salesman for a cable company and my mother is a teacher. Growing up, my family has been oriented around playing sports. I have played all sports, and the sports I didn't play, I was around anyways because my brothers played them. I attended a 7A high school in Huntsville called Grissom. I played both volleyball and basketball for Grissom, always competing for top titles in the state. After I graduated high school, I chose to continue my volleyball career at Coastal Alabama Community College. Coastal Alabama is a junior college in Mobile, Alabama. Here, I obtained my associate’s degree in general studies. I continued my sports career and education in Irvine, California. I then got my Bachelor of Arts in Education at Westcliff University, while playing for the indoor and beach volleyball teams. I am currently working on my Master's Degree in Career and Technical Education with a concentration in Leadership. I am married to Jordan Rodriguez. We have a one year old Olde English Bulldog and are expecting our first child this November!

My personal qualifications for this program include my ability to work hard, my quality of work, and my willingness to work collaboratively with others. I have worked closely with children in many jobs, so I have a deep understanding of discipline, leading a group, and how different children can be. Being a student athlete, I plan on managing my time with my sport and completing my degree with the best scores possible. I will focus on setting a good example in the classroom because it is important to me that I represent my sport and the school well.

I have always known I wanted to be a teacher. I thought I wanted to do elementary, but had a change of heart after I discovered I wanted to be more involved in the lives of students in high school. I want to be a math teacher in high school, because of my love for math and my love for wanting to be effective in younger lives. I know that I changed the most in high school, and these were the most effective teachers in my life. My biggest goal as a teacher is to make students excited about learning and wanting to exceed in everything they do.
